Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior / Lead Data Engineer with experience in cloud-native data pipeline development, ideally within Microsoft environments, to join a new international Tech Hub in Lisbon. This role will contribute to the design and delivery of scalable data solutions aligned with business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement end-to-end data architectures, including ingestion, modeling, storage, and orchestration.

• Build and maintain cloud-native data pipelines with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

• Work with data lake and data warehouse platforms.

• Apply DataOps/DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for data solutions.

• Implement data validation, monitoring, documentation, and lineage processes.

• Communicate technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and promote engineering standards.

Requirements:

oMinimum of 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on cloud-native solutions.

oStrong experience in end-to-end data architecture and design, including ingestion, modeling, storage, and orchestration (ex. Medallion).

oProficiency in cloud-native engineering, with a focus on Microsoft technologies (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse) but open to other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) with comparable tools.

oHands-on experience with data warehousing and data lake solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, Amazon Redshift).

oProficiency in programming languages such as Python (with data-related libraries: e.g. Pandas, Boto3), SQL, or Spark.

oStrong knowledge of RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server) or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, ElasticSearch, GBQ).

oExperience with DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.

oAbility to implement data validation, lineage, documentation, and monitoring at scale.

oProven ability to optimize pipelines and storage solutions for performance, cost, and reliability.

English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
