Operation Mainframe Consultant

Job Description:

We are looking for an Operation Mainframe Consultant with experience in z/OS environments, responsible for ensuring the operation, monitoring, and support of mainframe systems, with a focus on batch processing and production stability.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the operational readiness of z/OS environments, including CMDB updates, documentation, obsolescence, and vulnerability management;

  • Provide operational maintenance (MCO) as Level 2 support;

  • Define, schedule, and execute batch jobs using TWS and Control-M;

  • Monitor processes in real time and respond to incidents (abends, dependency issues, SLA breaches);

  • Launch and monitor production processes in z/OS, Open, and Control-M;

  • Perform incident recovery in production environments;

  • Manage and intervene on system resources (disk space, JES queues, catalogs, GDG, datasets);

  • Monitor file transfers and handle related incidents;

  • Provide technical support to application teams;

  • Optimize processing chains and reduce batch execution times;

  • Participate in production deployments and change activities;

  • Provide scheduled and on-call support (HNO);

  • Create and maintain operational documentation and work instructions;

  • Produce availability and performance reports;

  • Support solution development in coordination with the Project Manager/ScrumOps;

 

  • Act as a technical integrator.

Requirements:

  • Experience with z/OS environments;

  • Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language);

  • Hands-on experience with ISPF, SDSF, and TSO;

  • Knowledge of system monitoring (LPARs, JES2/JES3, CICS, DB2);

  • Ability to monitor and analyze system performance (CPU, memory, I/O, queues);

  • Experience in batch process management;

  • Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM environments;

  • Strong analytical and incident-resolution skills;

 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
